Marios Strofalis Quartet live concert

We are extremely pleased to announce that this year, we will enjoy a live by Marios Strofalis Quartet!

Marios Strofalis Quartet (piano, violin, cello & accordion) is counting 20 years of continuous presence of large concerts in important venues of the Greek territory, such as the Athens Concert Hall, the Acropolis Museum, the National Archaeological Museum, the Technopolis of Municipality of Athens, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, Gazarte, Halfnote, etc.

The composer’s music collections entitled ”European Taxim I, II & III” are nostalgic trips to “cultural ports” of the peoples in southern Europe, Argentina and Uruguay, where this musical culture has travelled back an forth and evolved. Popular classic forms bind with dances in couple and other Mediterranean and Latin America dances, such as Mediterranean Bolero and Argentinean Tango, Milongas, Valses, Tango Nuevo, Aegean Balo, Nouvelle Jazz Francaise, Andalucian Balads, Flamenco, Tarantella etc.

Marios Strofalis is the composer of the well-known habanera “European Taxim”, as well as the valses & tango compositions included in the musical collections of his quartet. He is an acclaimed, well-educated musician (piano & accordion) and a composer with award winning soundtracks and discography (including tango music). He holds great love for chamber music and larger musical ensembles and his tango compositions have received international acceptance.

He obtained his diploma at piano, harmony, counter, fugue and composition from the National Conservatory – Manolis Kalomiris. He also received his biology degree from the Kapodistrian University of Athens and Maitrise Music with Dispensse DEA from Paris, France.

As a composer, he had beautified with his music the movies: “Back door”, “The golden apples of the Esperides”, “Biloba”, “The braves of Samothrace”, “Secrets & Lies”, “To love me” etc. In television series: “Fugitive love”, “Thou shalt not kill”, “Those who dared”, “10th Commandment”, “Eroica”, “Black Midnight”, “Trojan horse”, “Like spoon sweet”, “Sweet & Sour wine” etc. In theatre productions: “Hamlet”, “Bug”, “Rachel”, “Lenders”, “Rottweiler” etc.

His songs have been performed by well known artists such as: George Dalaras, Tania Tsanaklidou, Dimitra Galani, Vassilis Lekkas, Christos Thebaios, Eirini Toumbakis, Yiannis Koutras, Melina Kana, Dionisis Tsaknis, Martha Moreleon etc.

Laertis Kokolanis (Violin)

Laertis Kokolanis (Violin)

Laertis Kokolanis, began his violin studies in the music school of Argyrokastro in Albania at the age of 6. When he came to Athens, he continued his studies in the Modern and Classical Music Conservatory with Nina Patrikidou.

He performed in numerous concerts and recitals from an early age. He continued his studies in Athens Conservatory with Tatsis Apostolidis, with whom he also studied chamber music for many years.

He got his violin diploma with honors studying with Ioannis Tzoumanis, who is Concert Master in the Athens State Orchestra. He has also attended various violin seminars and studied in master classes with Lydia Mortkovitch, Zakhar Brohn, Grigori Zhislin and Leonidas Kavakos.

He has collaborated with many orchestras in Athens, such as the National Symphony Orchestra of ERT, the String Orchestra Patra Soloists and the Greek National Opera Orchestra among others.

He has also performed as a soloist with the Athens State Orchestra, in which he performs as a permanent member since October 2008. He is also a member of the contemporary music ensemble “ARTefacts”.
